Our technical leadership has supported the owner in defining phasing strategies to updating the 1950’s hospital to reposition it to meet current day and anticipated future needs. Highline Medical Center

The 10-story addition to the Birch Wing houses a digital imaging lab, new emergency department, a telemetry nursing unit, mechanical room and hospital services. The new building is nestled into the compact campus that is situated on a very severe slope.

Okanagan County Public Hospital District No. 4

North Valley Hospital

The expansion and renovation of this public hospital required voters’ approval. Contributing to the master planning to support the bond initiative and subsequent GC/CM-integrated work, Hargis coordinated with project team and stakeholders to develop the
2-story addition to house the emergency department, imaging, acute care and future surgery and obstetrics. The hospital’s admittance area was remodeled to enhance way-finding and provide a gateway to the facility.

Peace Island Medical Center

As the first critical access hospital on the island, the new medical center is pioneering new approaches for healthcare planning and design. Featuring 10 beds and an emergency room in the hospital, the center will also house an expanded primary care and specialty clinic, diagnostic services and cancer care center. Working with the stakeholders, the design team evaluated several options to site and mass the building to align with the sustainable vision for the facility. Hargis is providing electrical and telecommunications professional services to support the 2012 opening.

Skagit County Public Hospital District No. 2

Island Hospital & Medical Arts Pavilion
Anacortes, WA

Serving a large influx of vacationers and residence, Island Hospital has been renovated and expanded. Working with the public hospital district to meet the capital improvement needs, Hargis has supported the no interruption in service directive for the complete 70,000 sf facility renovation and expansion and subsequent 25,000 sf medical arts pavilion addition.

Snohomish County Public Hospital District No. 304

Cascade Valley Hospital

Originally constructed in 1987, the hospital recently underwent a phased renovation and expansion. The first phase comprised of a tower addition to house the emergency department, outpatient services, and conference spaces with tenant improvements to the surgery and administrative wing. They were completed under a compressed schedule to accommodate the master plan objectives.

The new medical office was designed and constructed under a hybrid approach. As the mechanical, electrical and telecommunications consulting engineering firm retained by Swedish Medical Center, Hargis collaborated with the design-build team to coordinate shell and core systems serve impact the ambulatory spaces housed in the first floor and medical offices ready for TIs in the 3 floors above, as well as fully engineered the tenant improvement spaces throughout the building.

Community Living Center at American Lake

Replacing the aging facility with one that addresses the growing demand for services, the region’s Alzheimer veterans and a centralized kitchen for the American Lake campus, the new center responds to programmatic needs as well as the owner’s commitment to sustainability. The LEED® Silver certified 83-bed building features high efficiency mechanical systems, system metering and environmental controls to enhance indoor air quality, thermal comfort and access to naturally lit spaces.
